The Victorian AMCA Nationals celebrated a successful 2015-16 season with their presentation night at the Sunbury Bowls Club on Saturday.

Australian Champion Matt Hardy has achieved his second Title in just a fortnight, after winning last Saturday night’s Queensland AMCA Nationals Title at Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway.
Qualifying on pole position for the Queensland Title deciding feature race, Hardy was never bested and led the 30-lap distance from start to finish. The Queensland-based racer took the chequered flag in a commanding win, ahead of former Australian Champion and veteran Jim Knight (NSW) and recently-crowned NSW Champion Daniel Brooks (Tas) in second and third place respectively. For Hardy, he became the first Queensland-based winner of the event in seven seasons.
Current and two-time Tasmanian Champion Daniel Brooks last Saturday night won the NSW AMCA Nationals Title at Narrabri's Newton Park Speedway.
Like the majority of the field, racing for the first time at Newton Park Speedway, a particularly difficult track, and off the back of a disappointing Australian Title result, Brooks, from Hobart in Tasmania, qualified on pole position for the 30-lap NSW Title-deciding feature race, alongside veteran Shane Newstead (NSW). Brooks managed to get the jump off the start, retaining his lead for the remainder of the race throughout multiple stoppages and restarts.
Jamie Mills led Mills Brothers Racing to their first 1-2 feature-race finish last Sunday at Ballarat’s Redline Raceway, with Jamie’s older brother Mathew Mills coming home in second place.
While the Mills brothers battled it out in the final round of the AMCA Nationals Barry Reidy Memorial Series, which doubled as the penultimate round of the Country Cup, it was 26-year-old Jamie Mills who prevailed, taking the win over Mathew Mills.
To say that the 2015-16 season running of the Australian AMCA Nationals Title last Saturday night at Lismore Speedway was action-packed would be a massive understatement, but in the end, it was favourite Matt Hardy who came out on top.
In what was a sensational Australian Title deciding feature race, the cream certainly rose to the top, with Steve Potts (Qld) and Matt Hardy (Qld) sharing the front row. From the outset, Potts got the jump over Hardy, and then the pair fought tooth and nail throughout the first 14 laps, before Hardy managed to execute a pass on Potts for the lead. Once out in front, Hardy stayed ahead of his rivals and at the conclusion of the 40-lap distance, which in the latter stages saw Hardy withstand the pressure from a determined Tim Reidy (Vic) and also heavy lapped traffic, saw him record an impressive and popular win.
